Under Silver River’s exclusive representation for the United States. Manufacturas Eléctricas Orión, S.A. de C.V. — Transformadores Orión — has built transformers since 1987, from its plant in Cuautitlán Izcalli on the northern edge of Mexico City since 2001. Liquid-filled and dry-type under one roof: engineering to specification, manufacturing, a test bench to the NMX-J series, and a field-service operation that maintains, tests and repairs transformers and substations across Mexico.

Pad-mounted single- and three-phase, three-phase pole units, substation and power units with throats, submersible single- and three-phase units for vaults, zig-zag grounding transformers for wind and solar collection, and a dry-type line from control transformers to encapsulated medium-voltage units. Windings in electrolytic copper or aluminum; mineral oil in carbon-steel tanks. The manufacturer’s warranty, stated on the quotation — three years on current export quotations.

Every US order from this plant runs through Silver River. One US point of accountability, one factory floor outside Mexico City, one line between them — exclusive, direct.

Thirty-nine years building for the Mexican grid

Orión supplies Mexico’s national utility and its state oil company — CFE and PEMEX are on the plant’s own client list — alongside OEM and EPC buyers including ABB, WEG, IEM and Voltran, per the plant; its project list runs through contractors to Walmart, Nestlé, TV Azteca, Bank of America branches and Hospital Siglo XXI, dry-type K-13 and K-20 units among them. Its zig-zag grounding units went into wind and solar collection systems where the national grid’s designers needed a ground reference behind a delta-connected main transformer. For a US buyer that means a plant that already builds to a utility’s specification and passes a utility’s inspection. US utility configurations — ratios, taps, bushings, IEEE/ANSI accessories — are set on the drawings for each order and reviewed by Silver River’s US-licensed engineer before manufacture. UL listing status is confirmed per design on the quotation.

Orión tests to the NMX-J series — NMX-J-169 for the test methods, NMX-J-116, -284, -285, -287 and -351 for the product families, NMX-J-123 for the insulating oil — on Megger, YEW and Hipotronics instruments the plant names on its own test page: turns ratio, winding resistance, insulation resistance, dielectric strength of the oil. Quality system on the ISO 9000 model since 2003 and EMA accreditation obtained in 2020, per the plant; the certificates, their scope and a routine test report from a real unit travel in the qualification file, not as a claim on this page.

Beyond the factory gate. A manufacturer that also services: preventive and corrective maintenance of transformers and substations; field electrical testing — ratio, dielectric strength, contact resistance, insulation power factor; oil centrifuging and certified-laboratory oil analysis; medium-voltage works at 15, 23 and 34.5 kV; transformer rental while a unit is out; and bilingual technical support through the Silver River bridge.
